The rental agreement is the legal arrangement by which the landlord grants use of a property to the tenant for a fixed period in exchange for rent. The document sets out the rights and obligations of both parties: rent payment, security deposit, condition of the property at handover and termination conditions. It is concluded in 2 original copies, one for each party.
A rental agreement is needed whenever you rent out or rent an apartment, house, office or commercial space. It protects both parties in case of disputes and can be registered with ANAF for expense deductions. Without a signed contract, the landlord cannot legally prove the right to rent, and the tenant has no guarantees regarding continued occupancy.
